Interested in how to better design conferences and training events? Than you might find this article from the March 2007 issue of The Meeting Professional (published by Meeting Professionals International) to be of interest. Entitled "Learning Curve" it provides a smorgasboard of thinking from a variety of meeting planners, trainers, and faclitators (including yours truly).
Given the article's purpose of highlighting many of the issues related to better meeting design, you won't find in-depth treatment of any particular topic. However, is a quick read and offers a nice review of the fundamentals.
If you are interested in more of a deep dive into this topic, you can find it in an article I wrote for Convene magazine (published by the Professional Convention Management Association) in 2004. It is entitled "A Curriculum for Change: Making Learning the Metric that Matters Most"
