Shakespeare Redux

All the world's a video game, and we are just merely players.

That's the updated version of Shakespeare's classic line, and it reflects the somewhat startling news found in this a new Pew study. Among young people ages 12-17 virtually every one of them is a gamer.
"The first national survey of its kind finds that virtually all American teens play computer, console, or cell phone games and that the gaming experience is rich and varied, with a significant amount of social interaction and potential for civic engagement."
While many classrooms and conferences have been rethinking education delivery for many years now, the pervasiveness of gaming should cause everyone to think about its potential implications for training and development, as well as leisure pursuits.
