Even so, there is one public speaking tip that trumps them all: only speak on topics you care deeply about and actually know something about.
Your passion and knowledge will triumph even if your slides aren't the best, your delivery a bit monotone, or your movement a bit stiff.

If you'd like to learn how to design a more powerful workshop on one of your areas of knowledge, I'll be doing a half-day workshop on Designing Interactive Learning Experiences in Washington, DC from 1-4 p.m. on November 1 and in downtown Chicago on November 8 from 1-4 p.m.
This will be a very hands-on learning experience (little lecture, lots of lab) and by the end you'll have a draft design for a workshop on a topic of your choice.
